How to itemise Moskov and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Moskov

Moskov relies heavily on rapid Basic Attacks to power his passive, Spear of Quiescence, which reduces the cooldowns of Abyss Walker and Spear of Misery with every hit. Because his short range forces him into dangerous positions, this build solves his need for attack speed, mobility, and burst critical damage. Early attack speed allows him to rapidly cycle Abyss Walker for mobility and damage buffs, while critical strike items scale his passive piercing damage across clustered enemies. Finishing with penetration ensures his piercing attacks remain lethal against tanky frontline targets into the late game, enabling Moskov to dominate team fights effortlessly.

Item by item

Swift Boots

Early

Equipping Swift Boots early provides essential Movement Speed and Attack Speed necessary for Moskov during the laning phase. The bonus Attack Speed directly aids Spear of Quiescence, allowing Moskov to land Basic Attacks more rapidly to reduce the cooldowns of Abyss Walker and Spear of Misery. This early mobility helps him position effectively to pin enemies against walls with Spear of Misery.

Windtalker

Early

Windtalker boosts attack speed, movement speed, and critical chance, aligning perfectly with Moskov's kit. The Typhoon passive deals bonus Magic Damage to multiple enemies, accelerating wave clear in the Gold Lane. The increased attack speed enables Spear of Quiescence to trigger more rapidly, allowing Moskov to constantly refresh Abyss Walker to maintain superior positioning and attack speed buffs during early skirmishes.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Typhoon: Every 5-2s (reduced by 0.2s for each Basic Attack), the next Basic Attack will hit up to 3 enemy units for 150-362 Magic Damage. (This attack can Crit and the damage increases to 200% against Minions.)

Haas' Claws provides vital Physical Attack, Lifesteal, and Critical Chance for mid-game survival. Its Frenzy passive grants extra Attack Speed whenever Moskov lands a critical strike. This sudden surge in attack speed dramatically accelerates Spear of Quiescence cooldown resets, allowing Moskov to continuously cast Abyss Walker and maintain relentless pressure during extended team fights.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Frenzy: Critical strikes grant 20% Attack Speed for 2s.

Berserker's Fury significantly amplifies Moskov's offensive power with massive Critical Damage and Critical Chance. Its Doom passive grants extra Physical Attack upon landing a critical hit. Because Spear of Quiescence causes Moskov's Basic Attacks to pierce through targets, triggering critical hits deals devastating area-of-effect damage to enemies lined up behind his primary focus after repositioning with Abyss Walker.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Doom: Critical strikes grant 5% extra Physical Attack for 2s.

Great Dragon Spear synergizes brilliantly with Moskov's ultimate, Spear of Destruction. Offering Physical Attack, Critical Chance, and cooldown reduction, its Supreme Warrior passive grants a Movement Speed burst after casting Spear of Destruction. This bonus mobility allows Moskov to immediately chase down targets after teleporting directly to his shadow location using Abyss Walker.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Supreme Warrior: After casting an Ultimate, increase Movement Speed by 15% for 7.5s. This effect has a 15s cooldown.

Malefic Roar ensures Moskov can pierce high-defense enemies during the late game. Its Armor Buster passive scales Physical Penetration based on enemy Physical Defense. Combined with the attack speed boost from Abyss Walker and the piercing basic attacks from Spear of Quiescence, this item lets Moskov quickly melt armored frontliners and damage backline targets during clashes around the Lord.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Armor Buster: When attacking an enemy, gains 0.125% extra Physical Penetration for each point of the enemy's Physical Defense, capped at 40%.

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against aggressive Gold Lane opponents requiring immediate health sustain

Build Haas' Claws prior to Windtalker. Securing early Lifesteal allows Moskov to trade damage aggressively and recover health off minion waves without leaving his lane. The Frenzy attack speed trigger on critical hits continues to support Spear of Quiescence for fast skill resets.

When the enemy team stacks heavy Physical Defense items

Prioritize Malefic Roar earlier right after completing Berserker's Fury. Its Armor Buster passive converts enemy defense into Physical Penetration, ensuring Moskov's piercing attacks from Spear of Quiescence shred armored frontliners without losing damage against secondary targets positioned behind them.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Moskov's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
