How to itemise Rafaela and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Rafaela

Rafaela thrives as a highly mobile support who continuously empowers allies and disrupts enemies. However, her core playstyle relies on constantly spamming Light of Retribution to slow foes and Holy Healing to grant movement speed, slow immunity, and sustain. This continuous skill usage rapidly drains her mana pool and leaves her vulnerable if caught out. This build specifically addresses her extreme mana hunger and need for cooldown reduction, while converting extra magic power directly into stronger movement speed boosts and healing. Additionally, defensive items enhance her incoming self-sustain, allowing her to safely position near the frontlines to land a decisive Holy Baptism stun.

Item by item

Demon Boots - Favor

Early

Early game skirmishes demand frequent casting of Holy Healing and Light of Retribution. Demon Boots solve Rafaela's immediate early mana issues, while the Favor roam blessing automatically provides extra healing to the most injured ally whenever she uses her supportive abilities. This allows her to sustain her lane partner during early trades without having to recall frequently.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Passive - Favor: Success

This is Rafaela's core engine. The passive mana regeneration ensures she never runs out of resources during prolonged teamfights. The substantial magic power increases the bonus movement speed granted by Holy Healing, while the massive cooldown reduction lets her spam Light of Retribution constantly to stack its extra damage and keep enemies permanently slowed.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mana Spring: Regenerates 15% Max Mana every 10s.

Necklace of Durance

Core

Providing additional magic power and survivability, this item further boosts Holy Healing's speed boost scaling while granting instant HP and mana recovery whenever Rafaela levels up. This sustain keeps her present on the map during crucial skirmishes around objectives like the Turtle, ensuring she can continuously cast Holy Baptism when major fights break out.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Gift: Regenerates 20% Max HP and Mana over 2s after leveling up.

Oracle

Core

Oracle heavily amplifies Rafaela's self-sustain by boosting all incoming shield and HP regen effects. This directly enhances the self-healing portion of Holy Healing, making her surprisingly durable. With this added tankiness, she can comfortably walk into tight chokepoints to line up her Holy Baptism ultimate without risking immediate elimination.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Bless: Received Shield and HP Regen effects are increased by 30%.

In late-game scenarios, poking and posturing before taking the Lord takes time. Guardian Helmet provides immense HP and rapid passive HP regeneration out of combat. Rafaela can absorb poke damage while applying Light of Retribution, briefly back off, and instantly regenerate back to full health without needing to return to base.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Recovery: Regenerates 2.5% Max HP per second (reduced to 0.5% Max HP per second over 5s after taking damage).

Immortality

Situational

Late game errors can lead to swift deaths. Immortality provides a revive safety net. Even if she is focused down, her passive Deity Penalization triggers to strike her killer with true damage. Upon reviving with a shield, she can immediately cast Holy Healing to grant herself slow immunity and speed away to safety.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

When the enemy team has heavy poke damage and long teamfights

Prioritize building Guardian Helmet immediately after Oracle. The immense health regeneration allows you to constantly heal your team with Holy Healing while absorbing poke damage, recovering your health bar completely between skill rotations without leaving your team without support.

When enemy assassins are constantly focusing you first in fights

Delay Guardian Helmet and prioritize Immortality earlier. This deters enemies from committing heavily onto you, as dying triggers Deity Penalization to punish them with true damage, while the resurrection shield buys time for you to cast Holy Healing and escape.
