How to itemise Lunox and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Lunox

Lunox relies on alternating between Order and Chaos states, using Starlight Pulse for sustain and Chaos Assault for rapid health-based burst damage. Her passive Dreamland Twist converts Spell Vamp into Magic Penetration during Chaos mode, making sustain stats double as offensive power. Because she continuously spams abilities, mana consumption and durability are her primary weaknesses. This build addresses her heavy mana demands early with Demon Boots and Enchanted Talisman, transitions into core synergy with Concentrated Energy to convert spell vamp into penetration, and finishes with high-scaling magic power from Holy Crystal and Blood Wings to maximize her burst and shield survivability.

Demon Boots

Early

Lunox burns through her mana rapidly in the early laning phase while clearing minion waves with Starlight Pulse and poking opponents with Chaos Assault. Purchasing Demon Boots early guarantees constant mana restoration whenever enemy minion waves die. This sustain keeps her present on the map, letting her roam freely to assist with objective fights around the Turtle without constantly retreating to base for mana.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mysticism: Getting a kill or assist on an enemy Minion will restore 4% Mana. (An assist occurs when a Minion dies within 2s after taking damage from the hero.)

While Demon Boots help in lane, long teamfights quickly exhaust Lunox's mana bar when continuously unleashing Chaos Assault. Enchanted Talisman solves this through Mana Spring, continuously restoring her total mana pool over time. With uninterrupted mana flow, Lunox can maintain her stance switching and unleash endless ability cycles without fear of running out of resources during crucial skirmishes.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mana Spring: Regenerates 15% Max Mana every 10s.

Genius Wand amplifies Lunox's offensive potential by reducing enemy magic defense whenever she inflicts magic damage with Cosmic Fission or Chaos Assault. Because Chaos Assault scales off target max HP, shredding magic defense allows her to melt tanky targets effortlessly. This item marks her power spike, turning her into a lethal threat against squishy marksmen and durable frontline tanks alike.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Magic: Dealing Magic Damage to enemy heroes will reduce their Magic Defense by 3-7 (scales with level) for 2s. Stacks up to 3 times.

Concentrated Energy directly powers Dreamland Twist by providing spell vamp, which converts into raw Magic Penetration while in Chaos state for Chaos Assault, or heavy sustain in Order state with Starlight Pulse. Additionally, stacking damage bonuses when hitting abilities rewards her rapid-fire casting style, significantly enhancing both her survivability and total magic damage output during prolonged teamfights.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Recharge: Increases Magic Power by 5 after dealing Magic Damage (this effect stacks up to 6 times and can only gain 1 stack every 0.4s). When reaching full stacks, increases Magic Damage by 12% for 3s.

As enemy magic defense increases in late game, Holy Crystal dramatically elevates Lunox's total magic power. This percentage boost exponentially strengthens the healing on Starlight Pulse and drastically increases the damage output of Chaos Assault and Cosmic Fission. Completing Holy Crystal guarantees that her burst damage can disintegrate enemy heroes in seconds during late-game encounters around the Lord.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mystery: Gains 21%-35% extra Magic Power (scales with level).

Lunox must dive close to enemies to cast Chaos Assault and Cosmic Fission, exposing her to lethal retaliatory damage. Blood Wings grants immense magic power along with a substantial protective shield derived from her magic stats via Guard passive. The extra movement speed and durable shield allow her to position aggressively, survive initial burst damage, and continuously unleash Chaos energy safely.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Guard: Gains a shield equal to 200% of Magic Power. The shield will regenerate 20s after being damaged, and grants 30 Movement Speed while it lasts.

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against tank-heavy compositions building high magic defense early

Prioritise Genius Wand immediately after boots. The magic defense reduction synergizes with Chaos Assault HP scaling and Dreamland Twist conversion, allowing Lunox to shred thick frontlines before enemies stack massive defensive items.

When facing high burst threat and aggressive enemy dive heroes

Prioritise Concentrated Energy right after early mana items. The spell vamp boosts Starlight Pulse sustain in Order mode and feeds Dreamland Twist penetration in Chaos mode, providing immediate emergency healing and damage to survive dive attempts.

When falling behind in gold and needing cost-effective combat power

Delay Holy Crystal and focus on finishing Concentrated Energy and Genius Wand first. These mid-game core items offer immediate combat utility through defense shredding and health sustain, ensuring Lunox remains effective during critical fights near Turtle and Lord.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Lunox's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
