How to itemise Kadita and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Kadita

Kadita relies on aggressive dive combos using Ocean Ode to engage and Rough Waves to deliver massive area burst, but her high mana usage and vulnerability during aggressive dives demand careful itemisation. This build focuses on turning her into a high-burst assassin while bolstering her durability. By combining early mana sustain with scaling health and magic power, Kadita can safely execute her full spell rotation. As her raw magic power escalates, her burst damage scales tremendously, ensuring her Rough Waves can erase clustered targets instantly. The build ensures her Ultimate is available for every major objective fight, giving her continuous map pressure and deadly pickoff potential.

Item by item

Demon Boots

Early

Kadita frequently exhausts her mana pool while clearing waves with Ocean Ode and casting Breath of the Ocean for laning trades. Equipping Demon Boots early solves her mana regeneration needs whenever enemy minions fall, allowing her to roam aggressively across lanes without forcing constant base recalls. This early sustain ensures she stays present on the map to setup ambushes alongside her roamer and contest early map objectives around the Turtle.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mysticism: Getting a kill or assist on an enemy Minion will restore 4% Mana. (An assist occurs when a Minion dies within 2s after taking damage from the hero.)

Providing steady increases to max health and magic power over time, Clock of Destiny shores up Kadita's fragile base durability before she dives into enemy formations. The added health synergizes with her passive Thalassophobia, letting her absorb aggressive retaliation during Ocean Ode engagements and heal back missing health. Once fully stacked, the substantial magic power pool lays the foundation for her upcoming mid game burst power spikes.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Time: Gains 20 extra Max HP and 4 extra Magic Power every 20s, capped at 15 stacks.

The Resonate passive turns Kadita into a terrifying burst threat. When diving into groups with Ocean Ode and knocking them airborne using Breath of the Ocean, Lightning Truncheon unleashes an additional splash of magic damage that scales off her accumulated magic power. The sudden burst instantly deletes fragile backline targets, while the bonus movement speed helps her reposition safely after diving deep into dangerous teamfights.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Resonate: Every 6s, the next skill that deals damage will resonate, dealing Magic Damage equal to 120% Magic Power against up to 3 enemies and increasing Movement Speed by 30% that decays over 2s.

Holy Crystal dramatically boosts Kadita's overall magic power through its scaling percentage passive. Because Rough Waves features high magic power scaling across its multiple returning waves, this item elevates her Ultimate damage from moderate threat to lethal execution. Acquiring this core power spike transforms Kadita into a true magic assassin capable of single-handedly winning teamfights by wiping out entire enemy squads with one well-placed ultimate dive.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Mystery: Gains 21%-35% extra Magic Power (scales with level).

Kadita relies heavily on Rough Waves to guarantee kills during teamfights. Fleeting Time ensures that whenever she scores a kill or assist with her combo, her Ultimate cooldown drops dramatically. This allows her to participate in back-to-back skirmishes without waiting for long cooldown resets. Her gameplay shifts into an aggressive hunting style, constantly seeking pickoffs and contesting objectives like the Lord with her untargetable ultimate execution always ready.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Timestream: Hero kills or assists reduce the Ultimate's current cooldown by 30%.

Blood Wings

Situational

Finishing her build with Blood Wings grants a massive injection of raw magic power alongside a protective shield that grants extra movement speed. The shield acts as a safety buffer when Kadita dives headfirst into enemy teams using Ocean Ode, absorbing initial burst damage before she casts Rough Waves. The added movement speed enhances her mobility while underground, helping her track down fleeing enemies or escape safely afterwards.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Guard: Gains a shield equal to 200% of Magic Power. The shield will regenerate 20s after being damaged, and grants 30 Movement Speed while it lasts.

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against aggressive dive compositions or heavy burst teams

Prioritise Clock of Destiny immediately after Demon Boots. The accumulated health stacks give Kadita the survivability needed to trigger Thalassophobia and recover lost health after taking heavy damage, allowing her to survive initial burst combos and safely cast Rough Waves without dying during her dive.

When your team secures early kills and snowballs the game

Rush Lightning Truncheon right after Clock of Destiny to maximize early pickoff potential. The extra burst damage and movement speed turn your Breath of the Ocean knockup into a guaranteed kill, letting you continuously invade the enemy jungle, secure early Turtle objectives, and snowball your lead across the map.

When frequent teamfighting occurs around major objectives

Build Fleeting Time earlier after your core burst items. The significant ultimate cooldown reduction upon securing kills or assists allows you to cast Rough Waves in consecutive teamfights, ensuring you always have untargetability and massive burst ready for every contest over the Lord.
