How to itemise Bruno and, more importantly, why each item earns its slot.

Overview

Why this build works on Bruno

Bruno relies on critical hits to amplify his Volley Shot powerballs, but his passive Mecha Legs limits how effectively he scales with pure attack speed sources while granting critical strike chance when landing skill damage. This build solves his need for massive physical attack power and critical strike synergy rather than standard attack speed stacking. By pairing high critical strike items with raw physical attack, Bruno turns every retrieved Volley Shot into a devastating burst attack. The inclusion of utility items ensures he maintains high mobility when catching powerballs or chasing after casting Worldie, while self-sustain and defensive revives keep him alive when stepping up to fight.

Item by item

Swift Boots

Early

Swift Boots grant essential early movement speed and attack speed to help Bruno maneuver around the lane and retrieve powerballs dropped by Volley Shot. Because Mecha Legs reduces incoming attack speed conversion, early movement is crucial for positioning during trades. Equipping these boots early allows Bruno to reset his attack animation smoothly while collecting bouncing powerballs and maintaining distance against aggressive Gold Lane opponents.

Haas' Claws

Early

Haas' Claws provides physical lifesteal and critical strike chance that pairs directly with Mecha Legs. Since Bruno rapidly builds critical chance through skill hits, securing critical strikes triggers the extra attack speed burst from Frenzy, compensating for his passive attack speed penalty. This item transforms Volley Shot from a simple poke into a continuous sustain engine, allowing Bruno to stay healthy in lane without constantly recalling.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Frenzy: Critical strikes grant 20% Attack Speed for 2s.

Berserker's Fury is the core power spike that turns Bruno into a lethal threat. The added critical damage magnifies the boosted physical scaling of Volley Shot. Furthermore, landing critical strikes triggers Doom to temporarily boost his total physical attack, feeding back into all his skills. Once completed, Bruno can melt enemy heroes in just a few powerball bounces combined with Flying Tackle stuns.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Doom: Critical strikes grant 5% extra Physical Attack for 2s.

Great Dragon Spear grants critical strike chance and physical attack while drastically improving Bruno's mobility. Upon activating his ultimate, Worldie, Supreme Warrior provides a temporary surge of movement speed. This extra speed allows Bruno to aggressively pursue targets caught in the bouncing energy ball or safely reposition while catching Volley Shot powerballs during hectic team fights, ensuring continuous damage output without risking poor positioning.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Supreme Warrior: After casting an Ultimate, increase Movement Speed by 15% for 7.5s. This effect has a 15s cooldown.

Blade of Despair gives the highest physical attack available, drastically boosting the baseline damage of both Volley Shot and Worldie. Its Despair passive kicks in when damaging low health enemies, granting even more physical attack to turn Bruno into an unstoppable execute hero. With this item finished, any powerball hit on a weakened enemy will immediately finish them off, finalizing his transition into a late-game carry.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Despair: Dealing damage to non-Minion enemies below 50% HP increases Physical Attack by 25% for 2s (takes effect before the damage is dealt).

Immortality

Situational

Immortality covers Bruno's inherent fragility as an immobile marksman when Flying Tackle is on cooldown. The revival passive grants him a second chance at life if focused down by aggressive enemy assassins. Upon resurrecting, Bruno can immediately use Flying Tackle to stun nearby pursuers, pull back a bouncing Volley Shot powerball, and instantly turn the fight around with high critical strike lifesteal.

In-game passive Unique Passive - Immortal: Revives 2.5s after death, gaining 16% Max HP and a 220-1200 shield (scales with level) that lasts 3s (210s cooldown).

Adapting the build

No build survives every draft. These are the situations where the order above should change.

Against high burst assassins targeting the Gold Lane

Delay Blade of Despair and prioritize Immortality earlier after completing Berserker's Fury. Since Bruno must step up to catch Volley Shot powerballs, having the resurrection shield early prevents swift eliminations and allows him to safely sustain back up using Haas' Claws.

When the team requires immediate burst and mobility in teamfights

Prioritize Great Dragon Spear right after Haas' Claws before completing Berserker's Fury. The movement speed boost gained after casting Worldie lets Bruno follow up on his ultimate's knockback and defense shred, allowing him to aggressively slide with Flying Tackle while maintaining safe distance to catch bouncing powerballs.

Item recommendations come from the game's own hero data. The explanations are AI-generated from Bruno's ability kit and the items' in-game passives, and are checked automatically against the item list — they never introduce an item the game does not recommend for this hero.
